Belle Plaine Homes & Real Estate
Located in Scott County in the state of Minnesota is the city of Belle Plaine with a population of 6,661 as of latest count. Belle Plaine is a French term which means beautiful prairie and it was the expression used by Judge Andrew Chatfield whenever he passes by what we now know as Belle Plaine. Until today, the city still maintains areas covered with natural prairie grass. In 1974, the former municipality of Belle Plaine became a city.
The city can be reached through two main routes, the Minnesota State Highway 25 and US Highway 169. The 169 traverses from Duluth and passes through Belle Plaine on its way to Mankato and Iowa. This road offers speedy access to southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities and it is hardly ever heavy with traffic any time of the day. Belle Plain is situated right smack on the Minnesota River which runs through the city. There is a new bridge that crosses over the north side of the town through Minnesota Highway 25. And because the city is located in the wide Minnesota River Valley which was once a magnificent river, the banks of the old river can still be distinguished from the slopes.
Belle Plaine is being served by the Belle Plaine Public School District. There are approximately 1500 students being taught in these schools from Kindergarten to 12th grade. In Belle Plaine, there are two elementary schools, Chatfield Elementary which handles pre-school up to second grade, and Oakcrest Elementary which takes care of the third graders up to 6th. Those who are already on their 7th grade up to 12th grade go to the Belle Plaine High School. There are usually a hundred graduating students each year.
The city dates back to 1854 and that is the reason why it possesses a very rich history. Today, Belle Plaine boasts of a thriving commercial district which provides its citizens a wide range of various services plus shops and retail stores.
The city offers a great number of recreational facilities and programs with its amazing list of parks which are all available to its residents which makes the city a great place to live in. The downtown district is still open for new businesses so if you are interested in staying in Belle Plaine, there are commercial opportunities available for you and your family.
Some of the interesting spots in Belle Plaine include the Baha Memorial Bird Sanctuary, Century Park which is one the city’s newest parks (complete with benches, picnic spots, volleyball courts, gazebo, and other amenities), Chatfield Park, Court Square Park, Deer Park, Fountain Park, a community ice skating and hockey rink, Heritage Square Park, Hickory Park, and Meadow Park.
